Charlotte, NC
An AI consultant in Charlotte who starts with your shop, not with AI.
For trade shops, builders and property managers in Charlotte and the Carolinas that suspect AI could help somewhere and have not been told where, honestly. The AI Audit maps how a job moves through your shop, puts a dollar figure on the hours that leak, and says what is worth building and what is not. One senior engineer. No software to sell you.
What is different
There is no shortage of AI consultancies in Charlotte. Here is the shape of this one.
-
It starts with your shop, not with AI
Most AI consulting starts from the technology and looks for somewhere to put it. The AI Audit starts from how a job actually moves through your shop, finds where the hours leak, and only then says which of those leaks a system can close. Some of them cannot be.
-
One engineer, start to finish
The person on the 30-minute call runs the interviews, writes the blueprint, and builds what it earns. No account manager, no handoff to a junior, no agency in the middle.
-
Nothing to sell you
I do not sell software. If the answer is "configure the tool you already pay for," that is what the blueprint says, and the engagement ends there.
-
The fee has to earn itself
A fixed fee, $5,000, sized by headcount. If the recoverable savings in the blueprint do not cover it, you do not pay, and you keep the blueprint.
Built in Charlotte, for Charlotte
The City of Charlotte runs its EV charging analytics on something I built.
EV charging analytics for the City of Charlotte.
The City of Charlotte runs 208 ChargePoint EV stations across 46 locations but had no way to see utilization, cost, or station health without an operator portal built for someone else. We built the analytics dashboard their staff actually needed.
Subcontract review from 2–3 hours to 15 minutes for a commercial masonry contractor.
The shape every good build has: a trade contractor, paperwork nobody had time to read properly, and a tool that reads it so a person can decide. AI takes the reading; the judgement stays with the principal.

Charlotte first. The Carolinas next. A call anywhere.
Ascend Systems is a Charlotte company. For shops in and around the city (Charlotte, Concord, Gastonia, Huntersville, Matthews, Rock Hill) the audit can include interview days on your floor. For everyone else in North and South Carolina, and beyond, the interviews happen on a call, and the rest of the audit never depended on the room anyway.
Builds happen inside the tools you already run: Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, Buildertrend, AppFolio, Buildium, QuickBooks, Sage, Acumatica, Bolt by ECI.
How
Map. Blueprint. Then decide.
- A 30-minute call. Your operation, my questions. I will say if it is not a fit.
- Two weeks, sized by headcount. Org chart and procedures first, then small interviews with the people who do the work, then the numbers.
- A written blueprint. The map, the hours, the dollars, what AI can take and what it cannot, and a priority list. Yours either way.
- Build what earned it. A separate, fixed-scope engagement, only if the blueprint says so.
Questions
Charlotte questions, plainly answered.
- Do you work on-site in Charlotte?
- Yes. Ascend Systems is a Charlotte company. Audits for shops in and around Charlotte can include interview days on your floor, with the people who do the work. The rest of the engagement runs remotely, the same way it does for everyone else.
- Do you work outside Charlotte?
- Yes. The interviews are the work, and they happen on a call as well as on a floor. Most of the audit is reading, mapping and quantifying, which does not care where anyone is sitting.
- What kind of business is this for?
- Trade shops (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing), builders and remodelers, and property management companies that suspect AI could help somewhere and have not been told where honestly. Sized by headcount: about two days of interviews for a 15 to 30 person shop, up to a full week for sixty or more.
- Are you an AI agency?
- No. One senior engineer. When a build needs more hands I bring in contractors I have worked with before, and you always know who is touching the system.
- What does it cost?
- The AI Audit is a fixed fee, $5,000, sized by headcount. A build after it is fixed-scope, $5,000 to $10,000, inside the tools you already run. If the audit does not find savings that cover its fee, you do not pay.
The first step
If the savings do not cover the fee, you do not pay.
Thirty minutes about your shop. No slides. If the AI Audit is not the right next step, I will say so on the call.
